Richmond boudoir self portraits in studio with soft natural light

Why Richmond Boudoir Self Portraits?

Why Richmond Boudoir Self Portraits on a random Wednesday? Well…. because there are days where I don’t feel like myself. Not in a dramatic way, just… a quiet disconnect. The kind where nothing is necessarily wrong, but I don’t feel grounded in my body or confident in the way I move through the world. And when that feeling lingers a little too long, I’ve learned I need to do something about it.

So this time, I turned to something familiar, and decided to create a set of self portraits in my studio. I took my time getting ready. I did my hair and my makeup. Just moving slowly, letting myself ease into the process. I chose an outfit that made me feel like me again. The kind of outfit that shifts your posture without you even thinking about it.

And then I stepped in front of the camera.

No expectations. No pressure to create something perfect. Just space to exist and see myself.

At first, it felt a little vulnerable. It always does, even for me. But after a few frames, something softened. I stopped overthinking and trying to control every angle. I just let myself be present in my body.

That’s when it shifted.

These boudoir self portraits weren’t about creating something for anyone else. They were a quiet reminder to myself, that I’m allowed to take up space, to feel beautiful without needing permission, to reconnect with myself in a way that feels gentle instead of critical.

It wasn’t about fixing anything.

It was just about showing up.

And honestly, that was enough.

Richmond boudoir portraits with romantic and minimal styling.

If you’ve been feeling a little disconnected from yourself lately, this is your reminder that you don’t have to wait for confidence to show up first.

Sometimes it comes after you decide to show up.

If you’re in Richmond, Virginia and have been thinking about booking your own session, my studio is always a space where you can ease into that feeling, at your own pace, in your own way.
