A Little 90’s Lingerie Catalog Boudoir Inspiration

For this latest boudoir session in my Richmond, Virginia studio, I found myself inspired by Vintage lingerie catalogs. Specifically 1990s Victoria’s Secret catalogs. Do you remember those days? When a catalog showing up in the mail was so exciting! Pages filled with beauty, creativity, and just enough glamour to spark your imagination.

Before social media feeds and fast fashion, catalogues like those were carefully crafted. The direction, the styling, even the little details in the sets and lighting all came together to create something that felt special. It wasn’t just about the clothes. It was about the mood.

Looking back, I realize how much I miss that sense of artistry. There was room for subtlety, for femininity that was playful but intentional, for images that made you feel something. It wasn’t rushed. It was slow, deliberate storytelling of their products through photography.

That nostalgia became the inspiration of this session. I wanted to capture a similar spirit. That soft, romantic, dreamy vibe, with that 90s edge that feels both timeless and familiar. In a way, it was my love letter to a different era of fashion photography, one that still inspires me today.

Sometimes the best way forward in our work is to look back, to let memory and emotion guide the creative process. And for me, this trip down catalog memory lane was the perfect spark.
